How to Get the Most Out of Mercury Retrograde
Yay! Mercury Retrograde started on March 31st to April 23rd. Many people cringe when this rolls around, but the difference is most people do not know how to use it. You may have heard to not sign contacts or start anything new – I agree with this. You may have also heard that communication can go haywire – this can be true as well. So, where does the yay come from then? A planet goes “retrograde” when it is in the outer part of the ellipsis in which it orbits the sun. It appears to slow, stop and reverse directions (it is really just going slow, but it can really effect us as much as our moon can). Mercury rules communication, which is why we see the effects we do.
Retrograde is time to rethink, renew, revisit and re-do. Let me explain: We all carry pieces of our pasts with us all of the time. Many of these pieces are not favorable and prevent us from moving forward (like walking through deep sand… all of the time). Retrograde provides a window into ourselves, to take a deeper look. When looking through the lens of the healer, this is a strangely exciting time. The example that comes to me is of the Big Item Recycle Day, though not all that exciting in itself. But, it is great to get rid of what you no longer need and think of all of the free space you gain. Many people choose to look at old childhood experiences and fears, to release reoccurring patterns, and old traumas. The best part is choosing what qualities you want to incorporate into your life, you choose how to fill the space you have created. Not sure of how to do this? Schedule a healing session. Remember we identify ourselves by who we are in the moment, not by the trauma and drama of the past. Set your plans for this time period for inner growth and releasing, much like being in a cocoon. Spend some time alone, mediating, and even daydreaming. After the 23rd you will be ready for the outward growth, a whole new you can hatch and fly!
